Shakespeare festival gets 2 new artistic directors

CEDAR CITY -- The Utah Shakespearean Festival has two new artistic directors.

Longtime actors and directors David Ivers and Brian Vaughn have been jointly named to the post.

Ivers and Vaughn have worked at the Tony Award-winning festival for more than 15 years.

Ivers has spent nine seasons as a resident artist at the Denver Center Theatre Company. Vaughn is coming from the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. He's been a member of the acting company since 1997.

The Spectrum in St. George reported on its Web site Wednesday that Ivers and Vaughn will lead the organization's artistic direction, managing programming, play selection and casting.

They'll also help with fundraising and promotions of the festival, which is held at and around Southern Utah University in Cedar City.
