Heritage Place Assisted Living Fundraising Party for non-profit Senior Housing Assistance Association, July 23. Party is at 2 p.m., dinner is at 4:30 p.m. and parade will begin at 6 p.m. at Heritage Place Assisted Living, 1150 S. Main Street, Bountiful. Games and food may be purchased with tickets for $1. Entertainment will include live country western music and a cowboy magician. Food will include hot dogs, chips, drinks, cookies, and carrots. Prizes will be given at games and a raffle will be held. The grand prize will be a new I Pod. Funds raised will be used to improve the quality of life for seniors who are unable to pay for appropriate living accommodations.

The American Legion Baker-Merrill Post 9 will meet at the Post home at 10:30 a.m. to prepare the Pioneer Day float. Any and all members willing to work on the float will be welcome. American Legion Baker-Merrill Post 9 will be involved in the Ogden Pioneer Day Parade. Members are encourage to attend and ride on our float or walk along with it. We should be on the parade route by 8 a.m. We will meet near the intersection of Washington and 31st Street. Defensive driving classes offered by Utah Safety Council, four-hour defensive driving courses for individuals in the Ogden area, 8 a.m.-noon, two Saturdays per month; 6-10 p.m., one Tuesday per month. Registration is $40 per person, or $10 for those age 55 and over who are seeking a reduction in their insurance rate. Kiwanis Club of Ogden will sponsor a pancake breakfast before the Pioneer Day Parade. Pancakes, eggs, sausage and drinks will be served from 7-9 a.m. at Ogden Municipal Gardens at 25th Street and Keisel Ave. $5 for adults and $3 for children. All proceeds go to promote programs for children and youth.

Ben Lomond Class of 1970 40th reunion held with golf tournament, Aug. 6 and 7. The reunion will be held in conjunction with the school's annual alumni golf tournament on Aug. 7 at Mt. Ogden Golf Course. The Aug. 6 event will be a classmates gathering at the Comfort Suites, 2250 S. 1200 West and the formal dinner will be at the Timbermine Restaurant on Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. The golf tournament is for all Ben Lomond graduates from any year. The Mt. Ogden Rotary Club is selling rubber ducks for the "Rubber Duckie Derby" to be held at noon on Aug. 28 at the Ogden River (across from the Prairie Schooner), which will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Weber/Davis as well as provide funds for the "Dictionary Project," in which the Mt. Ogden Rotary Club distributes dictionaries for all 3rd graders in the Ogden/Weber School Districts. The Club will have a booth at the 25th Street Farmer's Market selling ducks.

Ogden High School class of 1944 is holding its last high school reunion. The event will be held at the MTC Park, 1750 Monroe Blvd., Ogden at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28. Informal reception with hors d'oerves at 3 p.m., followed by a catered picnic lunch at 4 p.m. A $20 donation is requested but not required. Send reservations by Aug. 5 to Jack L.
