John Lennon tour bus pulling into town

OGDEN -- Have you ever wanted to take a peek inside a professional recording studio? Your day has come. The John Lennon Educational Tour bus is coming to town on Wednesday to record Skaface, the Roy High School band and winner of the 2010 Standard-Examiner Battle of the Bands.

From noon until 1 p.m., the bus will be open so that the public can take a look at this state-of-the-art mobile recording studio.

The bus will be parked in front of Music Village, 4093 Riverdale Road.

The bus travels throughout the country helping young artists realize their musical dream by offering them a professional studio experience and recordings of their original songs.

Postponed Rockfest held this Saturday

OGDEN -- Rescheduled because of unseasonably stormy skies earlier this summer, the Ogden Rockfest, sponsored by the Ogden Arts Festival, is set to go this Saturday at the Ogden Amphitheater, 343 Historic 25th St.

The music starts at 1 p.m. and continues until 11 p.m., with a plethora of bands and music styles. All ages are welcome.

Artists include Ogden-based bands such as Cheatwood, Fox Van Cleef and Matt Ben Jackson.

Food, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks (with ID) are available for purchase at the venue. There is no charge to get in. For further details, go to www.ocae.org.

Grill puts spotlight on Utah country singer

OGDEN -- A little Utah homegrown country partners with Mexican food this week when Eric Dodge comes to Bella's Fresh Mexican Grill. The show, at 2651 N. 1850 West, is at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Dodge, a country artist living in St. George, always loved music but once fought keen stage fright. He vowed to overcome it and has since opened for many performers, including Chris LeDoux, Little Texas and, most recently for Carrie Underwood at the 2010 Stadium of Fire show.

Music, produce keep coming to market

OGDEN -- The Ogden Amphitheater and adjoining Municipal Garden continue with their summer concerts and activities this weekend.

First up is the Historic 25th Street Farmers & Art Market on Saturday, on Historic 25th Street and in the gardens, on the corner of Grant and 25th.

The market, featuring produce, jewelry, baked goods, art objects and much more, gets under way about 8 a.m. Live entertainment begins about 10:30 a.m. courtesy of singer Jared Allen. Allen is one of the members of T Minus 5 and a founder of A Cappellastock, a yearly a cappella music festival at the Ogden Amphitheater. There is no entry fee to the market, and the musical performance is also free.

On Wednesday the amphitheater, at 343 Historic 25th St, features two shows. The first is a free lunchtime show, part of the Tunes@Noon summer series. Andrew Glasmacher, an audio engineer and musician from Kaysville, will perform a rock show.

Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m., Salt Lake City guitarist Michael Lucarelli will be entertaining the crowd with his lyrical musical stylings. This show is also free.

Picnics are welcome.

Metallica, Guns N' Roses paid tributes

OGDEN -- Have you ever wanted to see Metallica and Guns n' Roses, but never had the chance? You have two chances to get a little of that experience on Aug. 6 and 7 at Brewskis, when Damage Inc. and Paradise City, Metallica and Guns tributes, respectively, take the stage.

The nightclub (ages 21 and over) is at 244 25th St.

As with the bands they are playing tribute to, both Damage and Paradise hail from Los Angeles.

Bluegrass sound to fill Centennial Park

SYRACUSE -- This week's free concert at Centennial Park features a little bluegrass in the summer sunshine.

The show, featuring the Davis County-based band Mulholland Street, is at 7 p.m. Saturday at the park, 1800 S. 2000 West.

Voices join flutes at Kenley Amphitheater

LAYTON -- It's time for a little night music as played by a chorus of flutes, when Flautissimo, joined by the men's chorale 4tissimo, takes the stage this Sunday.

The show is at 7 p.m. at the Kenley Centennial Amphitheater, 403 N. Wasatch Drive.

Conducted by Lorinda Atwater, Flautissimo is an all-flute women's chorus with members from along the northern Wasatch Front. They play everything from Bach to Rogers and Hammerstein.

The quartet 4tissimo is Jay Atwater (husband of Flautissimo's Lorinda and a singer with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir), as well as the Atwaters' sons, Jayson, Collin and Loren. The foursome have been singing as a group for about a year.

Salt Lake rocker lets loose on the meadow

SNOWBASIN -- The summer fun continues on the slopes Sunday when B.D. Howes, a rocker from Salt Lake City, plays at Wildflower Meadow at Snowbasin resort, 3925 E. Snowbasin Road, on the hills above Huntsville.

B.D. Howes plays a mix of blues-based rock laced with a little Southwestern musical flavor. He has recently recorded a CD of original work.

The music starts at 1 p.m. No outside food or drink is allowed, but barbecue and beverages will be for sale on-site. For further information, call the resort at 801-620-1000.
