Today

912 Meeting, 7 p.m., Christian Heritage High School, 5120 S. 1050 West, Riverdale. All are invited to learn about the value added tax and the fair tax. Lynn Taylor will report on the 912 committee's research: What is the VAT legislation, and how much will it cost me if passed? The fair tax will be addressed by Dr. Dan Alston, a dentist by profession. In 1990 he was part of the group Citizens for an Alternative Tax System, which was a national retail sales tax replacement for the income tax. That has evolved into the Fair Tax HR 25 that is being proposed today. The fair tax treats all American citizens equally, allowing everyone to keep their full paycheck or income. The tax base would expand to include tourists, criminals, underground economy, illegal immigrants, trust fund babies, etc.; everyone who doesn't contribute under the current system. To ensure adequate seating, RSVP at Weber912.com and click on "Meetup" or call Sylvia Salisbury at 801-399-4920.
