Army National Guard Pvt. Magdiel E. Ballesteros has graduated from the Basic Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. The course is designed to train servicemembers to maintain, prepare and load ammunition for firing; operate and perform operator maintenance on prime movers, self-propelled Howitzers, and ammunition vehicles; store, maintain, and distribute ammunition to using units as a member of battery or battalion ammunition section; perform crew maintenance and participate in organizational maintenance of weapons and related equipment; and establish and maintain radio and wire communications. He is the son of Dale Meredith of Syracuse, and Rachel Wilson of Tremonton. The private is a 2009 graduate of Bear River High School, Garland.

Air Force Reserve Airman Crystal L. Charriere graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Dale and Kay Lynne Charriere of Layton. Charriere is a 2009 graduate of Layton High School.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Joshua W. Goodnight graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Becky and stepson of Paul Lindsay of Clinton. Goodnight is a 2009 graduate of Northridge High School, Layton.

Army Pvt. Travis V. Minear has graduated from the Fire Support Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. The field artillery specialists serve in intelligence activities including target processing in field artillery, cannon battalions, division artillery, artillery and maneuver brigade and headquarters and fire support elements. He is the son of Kurtis V. and Cindy L. Minear of Kaysville. Minear graduated in 2008 from Davis High School, Kaysville.

Weber County

Air Force Staff Sgt. Sanjay M. Allen has deployed overseas to a forward operating base to serve in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Allen is a U.S. Air Forces Central Command journalist regularly assigned to the 49th Wing Public Affairs, Holloman Air Force Base, Alamogordo, N.M. The staff sergeant has served in the military for 10 years. He is the son of Jay E. Allen of Ogden, and Kamal Somaru of Mar Vista, Calif.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Jesse W. Betts graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Lynn Betts of Pleasant View. Betts graduated in 2006 from Northridge High School, Layton, and received an associate degree in 2009 from Weber State University.

Army Pvt. Sheldon C. Fleurant has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Sylvia Fleurant of North Ogden. Fleurant is a 2008 graduate of Weber High School, Pleasant View.

Army Pvt. Jacob S. Holt has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. He is the son of Michelle Phelps of Peterson, and is a 2009 graduate of Roy High School, Roy.

Army Pvt. James L. McFarland has graduated from the Basic Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. McFarland is the son of Dara Lewis of Ogden, and grandson of John T. Lewis of Kaysville. The private is a 2005 graduate of Duchesne High School.

Air Force Airman Quinton N. Rhodes graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Ralph Rhodes of Garland, and brother of Skyler Rhodes of Tremonton. Rhodes is a 2005 graduate of Bear River High School, Tremonton.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Aaron V. Schweidler graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Schweidler earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Susan Kilborn of Ogden. Schweidler graduated in 2003 from St. Joseph Catholic High School, and received an associate degree in 2007 from Weber State University, both in Ogden.

Army Reserve Pvt. Riley T. Shelton has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Joy Shelton of Pleasant View. Shelton is a 2005 graduate of Weber High School, Pleasant View. Air Force Reserve Airman Sean M. Williams graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Virginia and Dwane Williams of Roy. Williams is a 1999 graduate of Roy High School.
