Shelter offers shots, grooming for pets

The South Ogden Animal Shelter, along with Utah Career College and Johnston Animal Hospital, are sponsoring a "Shots and Suds" clinic from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Low cost rabies vaccinations will be available for cats and dogs, as well as South Ogden City licenses, microchips, nail trims and pet baths. Participants can also tour the animal shelter and learn about the "Save a Stray" campaign. Donations of laundry soap, blankets, money, toys, treats and towels are always needed and appreciated.

The event will be held at the South Ogden Animal Shelter, 5600 S. Adams Ave., in the Public Works Complex located behind the public library. For more information, please call the shelter at 801-622-2949.

Junior high to host 'Ram's Run'

Mount Ogden Junior High Parent Teacher Student Association will host its first ever 5K "Ram's Run" race on Sept. 18 starting at Wasatch Elementary School and ending at the junior high school.

Pre-registration is $10 for students and $15 for adults. The race begins at 8 a.m. Runners get a T-shirt plus free breakfast the morning of the race. The cost is $20 the day of the race, and the group is also accepting donations of any kind because it is the only fundraiser the PTSA will be doing for the year.

Make a harvest basket at art center

Anyone ages 7 to adult is invited to create a miniature basket of fall harvest vegetables and fruits from air dry clay at a craft workshop offered at the Eccles Community Art Center on Thursday, Sept. 9 from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.

Rendezvous set for all ages

Fort Buenaventura will host a Labor Day Rendezvous this weekend, featuring competitions and demonstrations of activities from the mountain man era.

The park, located at 2450 A Ave. in Ogden, will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday.

The event will feature a primitive archery shoot, black powder pistol shoot, novelty shoot, mountain man run and a daily council fire. There will be primitive games and a candy cannon for adults and children. Demonstrations include primitive pottery, flint knapping and more. Competitions include tall tales, period attire, and primitive camping.
