Muppets, candles star in films at library
WASHINGTON TERRACE -- Pleasant Valley Library will present two free films in the coming week.
* "The Muppet Movie" (1979, rated G) plays at 3 p.m. Saturday. Kermit and his friends head to Hollywood, with a frog-leg merchant hot on their heels.
* "Sixteen Candles" (1984, PG) plays at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Molly Ringwald stars as girl whose 16th birthday is forgotten by her family, but remembered by her friend, the geekiest boy in school. Ogden native Gedde Watanabe appears as the comical foreign exchange student.

Sensory-friendly 'Nanny' at Layton Hills
LAYTON - AMC theaters and the Autism Society will host a sensory-friendly screening of "Nanny McPhee Returns" on Saturday.
The 2010 PG-rated film follows a nanny who has a magical way of helping dysfunctional families.
The screening, geared for autism patients and their families, will feature lower than usual audio, higher than usual house lights, and no previews. Participants are welcome to bring their own gluten- and casein-free snacks. Audience silence will not be enforced.
The screening is at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Layton Hills 9 theater, 728 W. 1425 North.
Tickets are $4, at the door.
Documentary follows woodpecker watchers
LOGAN -- "Ghost Bird," a documentary about birdwatchers and scientists searching for the elusive ivory-billed woodpecker, will screen here Thursday.
The film plays at 7 p.m. in the Logan Arthouse and Cinema, 795 N. Main St. Admission is $5.
