WOODS CROSS
Couples honored for work on homes
The city honored 10 couples for their outstanding work on their homes.
Woods Cross Manager Gary Uresk said the city had people peruse area neighborhoods and pick out homes that stood out.
"We feel these people have done a good job in landscaping their yards," he said.
That's why those people were given mayor's awards for city beautification.
Recipients include: Brent and Judy Argyle, Danny and Bonnie Blackburn, Bob and Marie Cella, Jeff and Wendy Molton, Dale and Clarice Nelson, Cliff and DeAnn Pay, Eric and Nicole Powell, Jerry and Lisa Rose, Jim and Brenda Rossetti, as well as Steve and Geri Titensor.
These families received a certificate of appreciation as well as a rock monument to place in their yards. The monument indicates that they were winners for 2010.
The city also sent 130 letters to other residents thanking them for the way they keep the landscape and keeping the city a beautiful place to live.
KAYSVILLE
Check presented to city recreation
Gaylen Sprague of Bowman's Market recently presented the city recreation department a check for $1,233.
The money came from the annual July 24 breakfast sponsored by the store.
The event started about 25 years ago with Bowman's hosting the breakfast and donating the proceeds to the recreation department.
Sprague said the store has donated over $35,000 from this event. According to Sprague, Bowman's has been in business for 97 years.
"The citizens are kind to us," he said. "We strongly believe in being closed on Sundays and to not sell beer or cigarettes."
The check was presented to Mayor Steve Hiatt and Councilman Gil Miller for use by the recreation department.
