Scottish music rings out in Ogden Valley
HUNTSVILLE -- The fall music festival at the Ogden Valley Branch of the Weber County Library continues at 7 p.m. Thursday with a little bit o' Scottish music. The library is at 131 S. 7400 East.
The Galloway Highlanders Pipes and Drums, led by Ron Rowe, will perform at the event. The group draws members from throughout Northern Utah and keeps sharp by practicing weekly in Kaysville.
The Galloway Highlanders perform music steeped in the tradition of the British Isles, in the full tartan of Scotland's Black Watch corps.
The show is free, and families are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Meadow gets the blues as fall nears
SNOWBASIN -- Fall is coming to Snowbasin, and so are the blues.
Ogden-area duo Turner and Williams play the free summer music series at 1 p.m. Sunday at Wildflower Meadow, 3925 E. Snowbasin Road, on the slopes above Huntsville.
The duo features musicians Brett Williams and d. scott Turner, The show will feature a mix of blues and rock.
Outside food and drink are not allowed, but food and refreshments are for sale on site.

New area orchestra debuts at market
OGDEN -- Farm-fresh produce, baked goods and locally made arts and crafts are not the only thing available at the Historic 25th Street Farmers and Art Market this week.
A new community-based orchestra will debut at 11 a.m. Saturday in Municipal Gardens, at 25th Street and Grant Avenue. The new group is called Chamber Orchestra Ogden.
Michael Palumbo, director of orchestral studies at Weber State University, began the group after requests from many of his former students as well as other community musicians.
This is the first of three concerts planned for the debut season, with the balance of dates to be announced soon. This first performance features guitarist/WSU faculty member Mark Maxson, as well as a number of string players.
Admittance to the market, as well as the performance, is free.

Moon returns with acoustic sounds
OGDEN -- Singer/songwriter Matthew Moon returns to Ogden for an acoustic show this evening.
The concert begins at 8:30 p.m. today in The City Club, 264 Historic 25th St.
Moon, born in Staten Island, N.Y., has built a local following with shows in Ogden over the years. He spent time in the Austin, Texas, music scene, honing his craft after high school.
Moon has played with an array of talented musicians, including members of Jerry Joseph's band as well as Big Head Todd and the Monsters.

'Anchor' CD release celebrated at grill
FARR WEST -- A Salt Lake City singer/songwriter celebrates the release of her new CD with a show at Bella's Fresh Mexican Grill. Mindy Gledhill plays a show at 7 p.m. Monday at the restaurant, 2651 N. 1850 West.
Gledhill's latest album, her third, is "Anchor." Styles range from dance music to love songs to a song popular with her fans, "All About Your Heart." The tune was written in tribute to nationally known family-matters blogger Stephanie Nielson, who was critically injured along with her husband in a plane crash in 2008.
Gledhill has plans to embark on a fall tour of the Western states in support of the album.
