Something hanging around corn maze

ELWOOD -- Look out for the hanging noose in this haunted corn maze.

The noose is a new addition to the Old Farm Corn Maze, now open for its fifth season at 9595 N. 4400 West.

All the props are handmade with objects found on a farm, says manager Deidra Jolley of Tremonton.

"Our guillotine is kind of cool, too," she says.

The 16-acre maze, cut with assorted circles, squares and dead ends, was the setting for the 2009 filming of a movie titled "The Maze." The DVD, available online from Amazon and Netflix, was directed by Stephen Shimek, a former Elwood resident who currently lives in Provo.

The movie, which follows five friends and their scary adventures in a corn maze, is shown on a television set at the Elwood maze on Friday and Saturday nights, Jolley says.

If Top of Utah visitors get lost in the Old Farm Corn Maze, they can simply go back in and try again.

"We let them go in and out as many times as they want," Jolley says, all for the same admission price.

The maze includes a campfire and a concession stand with hot chocolate, candy and popcorn.

The attraction is open from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, through Oct. 30.

Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Ages 5 and under are admitted for free. On Mondays, admission is $10 per family.
