OGDEN -- Ogden's Veterans Day celebration kicks off with a ball, and ends at a ball field.
The Veterans Ball starts with a social from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Marriott Hotel, 247 24th St. Dancing starts at 8 p.m., and continues until 11 p.m., with live music by the Junction City Big Band. Hors d'oeuvres will be served, and door prizes awarded.
Guests are expected to wear dress uniforms or formal attire. Tickets cost $20 per person, and should be reserved by Wednesday.
Ogden's Veterans Day Parade, billed as the largest in the state, starts at 11:11 a.m. Nov. 13. Organizers are hoping for a flyover of F-15s from Hill Air Force Base.
Parade participants line up on Washington Boulevard, between 18th and 20th streets, and march south to 23rd Street. The parade route turns west on 23rd Street, heading to Lincoln Avenue, then south again to Lindquist Field.
At Lindquist Field, there will be live music, as well as a display of vintage military vehicles and an Apache helicopter. A "Fallen Soldier Ceremony" will be followed by a gun salute and the releasing of white doves. The Veterans Day activities end at 3:11 p.m.
