Take a holiday hayride through Layton lights
LAYTON -- Forget about going on a sleigh ride -- it's time for a hayride.
Layton City's Family Recreation program is sponsoring hayrides through the holiday light display in Layton Commons Park, 437 N. Wasatch Drive. The hayrides run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Families are invited to meet in the Phase I Pavilion, at the north end of the park's Constitution Circle. In addition to the hayrides, there will be games, hot chocolate and a chance to see Santa Claus.

Santa, carolers make their way to Eden
EDEN -- Caroling and the arrival of Santa Claus will highlight the Festival of Lights on Saturday.
Activities take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 5522 E. 2200 North in Old Town Eden.
Santa will arrive at 5 p.m., and families are encouraged to bring cameras to take their own photos.
The Christmas tree will be lit at 6 p.m. and remain lighted through New Year's Day.
Horse and buggy rides around the park will be offered at 4 p.m. Children from various schools in Ogden Valley will perform Christmas carols.
Folks are invited bring a new toy or canned goods to be distributed to needy Ogden Valley families by the Weber Fire District.
Admission is free; merchants in Old Town Eden will serve churros, hot chocolate and other refreshments.

Monastery display honors loved ones
SOUTH OGDEN -- Loved ones will be remembered in a display of twinkling lights beginning Monday at Mount Benedict Monastery.
The tree display and nativity memorializing those who have passed away will be turned on at 6 p.m. at the monastery, 6000 S. 1075 East, after the singing of "Silent Night."
Names will be read during the ceremony and the Weber State University Chamber Choir will sing Christmas carols. Refreshments will be served.
A bake sale, featuring treats donated by various Ogden bakeries, will be held.
The display continues from dusk to 10 p.m. daily, through Dec. 31. Admission is free.

Bicentennial Park tree gets lit Saturday
NORTH OGDEN -- Get into the Christmas spirit by attending the tree lighting at Bicentennial Park on Saturday.
Enjoy refreshments, a visit from Santa and entertainment by Bates Elementary School students.
The program begins at 5 p.m. The park is at 2641 N. 400 East.
Also, visit with Santa Claus from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, through Dec. 20, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 11 and Dec. 18.
Letters to Santa, dropped in the mailbox at Bicentennial Park by noon Dec. 20, will receive a response if a self-addressed, stamped envelope is included.
