City renames park for retiring Forbush

City leaders have renamed a city park in honor of retiring city manager Max Forbush.

The park adjacent to the Community Center and city swimming pool on South Main Street has been named Forbush Park in honor of the executive, who was city manager for 33 years and formally stepped down on Wednesday.

The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon after a reception to honor Forbush and retiring city recorder Margy Lomax.

A rock with a plaque honoring Forbush was moved into the park on Tuesday, according to Mayor Scott Harbertson, who said he and members of the city council spent some time trying to find the appropriate way to honor the retiring city manager.

Dave Millhelm has replaced Forbush as city manager and Holly Gadd has been appointed as the new city recorder to replace Lomax.
