Capsule reviews, by Standard-Examiner movie critic Steve Salles, of next Tuesday's releases:
ANIMAL KINGDOM *** (R) Violence, drug content and pervasive language. An innocent young man is thrust into his estranged family's criminal enterprises, even though he wants no part of them. Caught between law enforcement and a wary family matriarch and uncle, the kid must figure out some way to survive. It's very intense. 113 minutes.
BURIED *** (R) Language and some violent content. If you have a fear of closed-in spaces, this thriller might put you in a coma. It's basically Ryan Reynolds trapped inside a coffin-like box, trying to figure out how he can get out. Fortunately, he has a cell phone and a lighter. Unfortunately, he has a limited amount of air and no idea where he is. Color me freaked out. 95 minutes.
LEBANON *** (R) Disturbing bloody war violence, language including sexual references, and some nudity. In Hebrew, Arabic and French with subtitles. Four Israeli tank soldiers are ordered into Lebanon during the first war (early 1980s) and must endure the horrors of warfare from their unique perspective. The entire movie is shot from inside the tank. It's a powerful experience. 93 minutes.
TAKERS ** (PG-13) Intense sequences of violence and action, a sexual situation/partial nudity and some language. Five cool guys successfully rob banks once a year. A former teammate entices them to violate their own rules. It will go badly, but you almost can't tell because some jerk won't hold the camera still. 107 minutes.
VIRGINITY HIT * (R) Strong crude and sexual content, nudity, pervasive language, drug and alcohol use. Some voyeuristic guys decide they will stop at nothing to help their friend lose his innocence, if only he'll let them film it. Really? It's a bad idea poorly executed, and makes "American Pie" look like high art. 86 minutes.

Also being released:
DEATH RACE 2 (R) Graphic violence, profanity, sexual situations. Luke Goss, Ving Rhames, Sean Bean and Danny Trejo headline this thrill-ride sequel. The film follows convicted cop-killer Carl Lucas (Goss) as he vies for freedom by competing in the most deadly reality show ever conceived.
DOC WEST (PG) Western violence, mild language, smoking. An Old West gunslinger is forced to choose between siding with a gang of violent outlaws and law-abiding citizens while pursuing the bandits who stole his money. 97 minutes.
