The city council has approved the purchase of 51 new power poles for use by the Bountiful City Light & Power Company.
At a recent meeting, the council unanimously approved the purchase of the poles for a cost of $29,503. The poles will boost the utility's existing inventory, according to Allen Johnson, director of the BCL&P. Council action is required to approve any utility purchase over $10,000.
Bountiful is one of only two municipalities in Davis County to have its own utility company.
