OGDEN -- Chocolate-covered raspberries, cherries and pretzels, cream puffs, ginger cookies -- are you drooling yet?

Treats abound at the annual Chocolate Affaire on Saturday at St. Joseph High School, 1790 Lake Street.

"An Evening of Elegance" runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the school's Black Box Theatre, with chocolates of all types, a light buffet, live music and a silent auction.

Auction items include jewelry, baskets, food and restaurant meals, tickets to the Utah Opera and Utah Symphony, and more.

About 200 to 300 people attend the annual event sponsored by the Ogden Opera Guild, said guild member Diana Hanebrink.

The goal is to raise $25,000, which will be used to sponsor a Utah Opera performance of "Falstaff" on May 22 at Salt Lake City's Capitol Theatre. The event also gives 100 to 150 students the experience of attending an opera dress rehearsal.

"It's a great way for them to feel like they have experienced something a little bit different," Hanebrink said.

Music at the Chocolate Affaire will be provided by guitarist Michael Smith of West Point and pianist Jackson Reed, a student at St. Joseph High School.

Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 at the door. To make reservations, or for information, call 801-394-1309.
