Top of Utah artists earn museum honor
SPRINGVILLE -- Winners have been named in the Springville Museum of Art's 39th Annual Utah All-State High School Show, and several come from the north end of the state.
Master's award winners included Bountiful High School's Morgan Lynn Bronson, Jamie Yolonda Foremaster of Weber High School, and Sky View's Joe'E Antoinetta Moon.
Excellence awards were given to Stephanie Burnish of Ogden High School, Maren Knudson from Sky View High, and Bonneville High's Skye Kirstyn Willard.
Adrian Kulpanowski of Logan High School, Woods Cross High's Catherine LeVitre, and Kyra Lee Thompson from Bear River High School were honored with merit awards.
Those winners were selected by a juror; each will receive a cash prize.
Congressional Awards were selected from each of Utah's districts. Will H. Carlisle of Logan High School was selected by Rep. Rob Bishop as the top winner in Utah's First Congressional District. Carlisle's work will be on display in the U.S. Capitol building for one year, starting in June.
The Margaret Hunt Scholarship, a cash award, went to Moriah Ellen Wilson of Sky View High School.
Bountiful High's Morgan Lynn Bronson, and Jamie Yolanda Foremaster of Weber High School, received scholarships to the Hein Academy of Art in Salt Lake City.
Almost 1,000 entries were received in the contest; 341 were accepted into the show. The exhibit continues through March 25 in the Springville Museum of Art at 126 E. 400 South.
The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays; and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Art goes on auction at black-tie affair
OGDEN -- Art of all kinds will be featured at the Eccles Community Art Center's annual art auction on March 5 at the David Eccles Conference Center, 2415 Washington Blvd.
All types of art -- from contemporary to abstract, and ceramics to jewelry -- will be auctioned at this black-tie evening.
The fundraiser for the art center starts at 6 p.m. with the social and preview, with dinner at 7 p.m. and the auction at 8:30 p.m. Limited tickets are $125 per person.

WSU exhibit focuses on women's history
LAYTON -- "Our History Is Our Strength," an art exhibit focusing on Women's History Month, opens Tuesday on the Weber State University Davis campus at 2750 N. University Park Blvd., Layton.
The exhibit, in the second-floor hallway, is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, through March 28. Admission is free.
