'Breakfast at Tiffany's' kicks off film series

OGDEN -- Starlets of the silver screen, including the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Katherine Hepburn, are the main dish this year at Peery's Egyptian Theater.

The Egyptian Theatre Foundation has announced the return of the Silents and Cinema Classics Series for 2011, which begins with "Breakfast At Tiffany's" later this month. Currently, there is no silent movie planned, but one could be added later.

The series, which is entering its third year, will be at the theater, 2415 Washington Blvd.

Tickets are $6, or $5 with a canned food donation. All movies begin at 7 p.m. on the selected dates. Call 801-689-8700 for more information.

April 29 -- "Breakfast At Tiffany's" (1961). A New York socialite falls in love with a new neighbor. Starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. Tickets are on sale for this movie at the box office and through Smith's Tix, 801-689-8700.

July 16 -- "D.O.A." (1950). Edmond O'Brien stars as a businessman who finds out he's been poisoned and has only a few days to live to find his own murderer.

Aug. 20 -- "Niagara" (1953). A honeymoon in Niagara Falls ends in murder. Marilyn Monroe and Joseph Cotten star in the film noir.

Oct. 1 -- "The Spiral Staircase" (1945). A mute domestic worker, played by Dorothy McGuire, has been picked as a serial killer's next target.

Nov. 19 -- "Bringing Up Baby" (1938). Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant star in the film about a zoologist trying to get funding to complete a dinosaur skeleton.
