Community Drum Circle each Friday at 6 p.m. (weather permitting) at Big Dee Sports Park, 1376 Park Blvd., Ogden. No music experience necessary. Free. Gather in the area by the children's playground at the parkway; facilitated by Wellness Rhythms. This is open to anyone in the community and is a family friendly event; no alcohol or drugs allowed. Some drums will be provided for use on a first come first serve basis but you can bring your own hand drums and shakers too. Beyond the Birth: A Parenting Class, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Ogden Regional Medical Center's Women's & Children's Health Center, 5475 S. 500 East, Washington Terrace. $25 per couple. Registration required. 801-479-2600.

Defensive driving classes offered by Utah Safety Council, four-hour defensive driving courses for individuals in the Ogden area, 8 a.m.-noon, two Saturdays per month; 6-10 p.m., one Tuesday per month. Drivers may complete the course for a 50-point reduction from their Utah driving record, once every three years. $40 per person, or $10 for those age 55 and over who are seeking a reduction in their insurance rate. Caregiver classes by Davis County Health Department. Eight-week series of classes for individuals caring for family members who are older or frail. The one hour classes will be offered on Tuesdays at noon at Legacy Village Retirement Living dining room, 1201 N. Fairfield Road, Layton; or Fridays at 11:30 a.m. at Golden Years Senior Activity Center, 726 S. 100 East, Bountiful. The class series ends Tuesday, July 26, or Friday, July 29. Free to the public. Individuals may attend at anytime during the series. Presenters will discuss topics such as medication safety, avoiding caregiver burnout, Medicare guidelines, and living with hearing loss. A complimentary lunch is provided but an RSVP by each Monday at noon is required to receive a meal. No reservation is required to attend the class only. Utah Association of Personal Histories has issued a call for stories from the community based on the theme "Seeking Freedom and Dignity". Entries should be a meaningful personal experience in 900 words. Stories should be submitted online by Aug. 1 for possible publication. Top 80-100 stories from Utah residents will be compiled into anthology, "One World, Many Stories." Categories are refugee and international, military and government, community, family relations, education, workplace, environment, health and wellness, and other. Centerville July 4th celebration begins at 6:30 p.m., July 1, with a children's parade. A free concert at Founders Park will follow at 7:30 p.m., with magician Mike Hamilton, and the music of the Joe Muscolino band. Fireworks will finish the evening. The fun continues at 7 a.m., Saturday, July 2, with a 5K run and a breakfast at Founders Park. A parade will begin at 9 a.m. Festivities continue with live entertainment and food and game booths at Founder's Park from 10:30 a.m. -3 p.m. There will be an Art and Quilt Exhibit in the lobby of the Davis Center for the Performing Arts, 525 N. 400 West, Centerville, from June 20-July 1. Viewing times are 3 p.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.

Kaysville July 4th celebration, week long array of activities beginning with July 1 patriotic devotional, three on three basketball, Kaysville/Fruit Heights idol contest, 13th annual community theatre play production, 5K and 10K walks/runs, pancake breakfast, parade along Main Street, vendor food/merchandise booths, and finishing with July 4 fireworks at 10 p.m. at Davis High School.
