OGDEN — He’s a founding father of modern hip-hop as well as a Pentecostal minister. He is Rev. Run, formerly of Run-D.M.C, and he is coming to Weber State University as part of the Convocation Lecture Series in connection with Black History Month.

The presentation is at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Shepherd Union Building Ballroom, on the WSU campus at 3848 Harrison Blvd.

Born Joseph Simmon, Run made a name for himself as part of Run-DMC, an influential rap group that formed in Queens, N.Y., in 1982. The group was an important influence in the political and gangsta rap movements. The song "It's Like That" is recognized by VH1 as one of the 100 greatest songs of hip-hop.
