Fire at Ogden duplex displaces family of 4

Woman, horse killed in hyperbaric chamber explosion

OCALA, Fla. -- A 28-year-old woman and a horse are dead after a hyperbaric chamber exploded at an equine-therapy center in Florida on Friday morning, fire rescue officials said.

Autopsies: Powell boys suffered 'chop injuries'

GRAHAM, Wash. — Josh Powell’s boys were coming for a visit, and he had preparations to make.

He boxed up their books and toys and brought them to a charity. He carried heavy cans of gasoline inside his house.

Police say Powell planned deadly fire for some time

 GRAHAM, Wash. — Josh Powell planned the house fire that killed him and his young sons for some time, dropping toys at a charity over the weekend and sending final emails to several acquaintances in the minutes before the blaze, authorities said Monday.

Fire forces evacuation at Northridge High School

LAYTON — Students and faculty were allowed to go back in to Northridge High School shortly before 11 a.m. Monday after a fire forced evacuation of the building.

Barn fire kills 22 show horses

With snow on the ground and the temperature hovering around 20 degrees, Art Hahn made sure every door in the New Jersey barn where he kept 22 trophy show horses was closed securely before he headed home Friday afternoon.

"Everything was locked up so the horses would stay a little warmer," Hahn said.

But shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, Hahn awoke to a neighbor pounding on his door. He looked across the street at the barn: It was engulfed in flames.
