Wildfire burning above Centerville

CENTERVILLE — Fire crews from three agencies are battling a wilfire in the foothills above Centerville and are hoping to bring the blaze under control before thunderstorms arrive.

Jason Curry, of the state Division of Forestry, said the fire was possibly started by a ricochet bullet. A group of people were target practicing on county land, said Centerville Police Lt. Paul Childs.

Two helicopters from the Bureau of Land Management are hauling water from a reservoir to battle the blaze, which had grown to about seven acres by 4 p.m.
