Woman charged with buying guns for ex-con who ambushed firefighters

 

WEBSTER, N.Y. -- The convicted felon who ambushed firefighters on Christmas Eve, killing two, couldn't legally buy the guns he used but he picked out the semiautomatic rifle and shotgun and was in the sporting goods store with a neighbor's daughter when she bought them for him, police said Friday.

Two firefighters wounded by a gunman who set his upstate New York house ablaze and killed two of their colleagues in an ambush with weapons he wasn’t allowed to own were on the mend Wednesday and said they were thankful for the support they’ve received.

Deadly arson sniper 'liked killing people'

 

WEBSTER, N.Y. -- The ex-con turned sniper who killed two firefighters wanted to make sure his goodbye note was legible, typing out his desire to "do what I like doing best, killing people" before setting the house where he lived with his sister ablaze, police said.

WEBSTER, N.Y. — An ex-con gunned down two firefighters after luring them to his neighborhood by setting a car and a house ablaze early Monday, then took shots at police and committed suicide while several homes burned.

OGDEN — Miracle Flores bravely raced through hellish black smoke and flames to pull her mother to safety from a fast-moving fire that destroyed a home in Ogden late Wednesday night.

Layton awards truck bay bid for firefighters' training facility

LAYTON — City officials have awarded the bid for the third phase of a firefighter training facility project in this community.

The city council recently voted unanimously to bid the construction of a training facility truck bay building at approximately 1890 N. Fort Lane to Patriot Construction LCC for $306,946.

The new building is expected to cost between $340,000 and $350,000 when completed, Chief Kevin Ward said, after all costs are factored into the project. Patriot is the same contractor awarded the bid to install infrastructure on the site.
