Crews knock down Box Elder brush fire

PROMONTORY — About 15 acres of private land burned in a brush fire started by lightening Sunday night.

Crews from five different fire department came to battle the blaze, which burned about a quarter-mile west of the ATK rocket garden, Box Elder County Assistant Fire Warden Dusty Richards said.

No buildings were damaged by the fire, spurred along by low moisture and windy conditions.

Richards said the call for the fire came in about 7 p.m. and was considered controlled by about 11 p.m.

“It was out of control when we got here,” Richards said, “but we got it controlled and if it continued to burn we would have had structures in jeopardy.”
