Birch Creek Reservoir

Fishing is slow for tiger trout.

Blacksmith Fork River

Use caution when parking or crossing the road to get to Blacksmith Fork River. The highway can be busy with visitors traveling to Hardware Ranch.

Bountiful Lake

Conservation Officer Brandon Baron wants to remind the public that the aggregate urban pond bag limit is two fish a day.

Causey Reservoir

Dedicated Hunter Michael Mecham reports good success for rainbows, cutthroats and splake. Fishing is best for trout with a glow or pink jig at depths around 20 to 30 feet. The ice is 14 inches thick.

Cutler Reservoir & Marsh

The ice around Benson Marina is unstable.

East Canyon Reservoir & State Park

Dedicated Hunter Michael Mecham reports good fishing for rainbows off the ramp out 200 to 300 yards at about 20 feet with a pearl white jig and PowerBait. The ice is safe at 12 inches, but there is two to three inches of slush. Use caution.

Echo Reservoir

Conservation Officer Rustin Nielsen reports slow fishing for 10- to 14-inch trout. Try using colored tube jigs tipped with either a night crawler, mealworm or PowerBait. Anglers are catching fish 10 to 15 feet below the surface of the ice with a delayed jigging motion. The ice is at least 20 to 24 inches thick.

Holmes Creek Reservoir

The water is being held back in the reservoir, which is creating a ring of water and ice around the shoreline. Use extreme caution when you access the ice.

Hyrum Reservoir & State Park

Park Ranger Steve Bullock reports good fishing for sizable rainbow trout and a few yellow perch. Try fishing at the spillway and near the inlet.

Lost Creek Reservoir

Conservation Officer Jonathan Moser reports that fishing is slow. There is more than 14 inches of ice, but the top six inches are slushy and wet. Try traditional ice fishing baits at different levels until you start catching fish. A fish finder can be very helpful.

Mantua Reservoir

Dedicated Hunter Mark Olsen reports that fishing at Mantua has its hot and cold spots. Anglers have caught 14- to 16-inch trout with yellow and red jigs, and bluegill and perch with mealworms. The ice is about 14 inches think with four inches of snow on top.

Mirror Lake

Many Uinta lakes experience winter-kill this time of year. Deeper lakes that seem to provide good fishing through the winter include Washington, Trial and Mirror Lake.

Newton Reservoir

Dedicated Hunter Mark Olsen reports slow fishing around the dam. The ice is 10 inches thick with two inches of slush on top. Anglers have had success for perch around 8 a.m.

Pineview Reservoir

Dedicated Hunter Michael Mecham reports slow fishing for all types of fish. The slush is making fishing very wet. The ice is still 12 inches thick, but use caution.

Porcupine Reservoir

Dedicated Hunter Kevin Brown reports anglers were having some success using a light colored jig, meal or wax worms. The ice is nine inches thick.

Rockport Reservoir

Joseph Donnell reports great fishing for some nice rainbows. The best location seems to be at the south end of the reservoir. Several anglers have reported catching decent-sized perch in the shallow water at the south end. The ice is more than 12 inches thick and ATVs are allowed on the ice. However, ATVs must access the ice at the boat ramp. You are not allowed to drive your ATV on park grounds.

Weber River

Biologist Paul Thompson reports fair to good fishing for brown trout and mountain whitefish. Try small nymphs or hare's ears nymphs in sizes 12 to 16.
