OGDEN — More than 150 homeless and working poor area residents are expected to receive free flu shots Wednesday afternoon, thanks to a partnership with Ogden Clinic and the Ogden Rescue Mission.

CLEARFIELD — To prevent the flu from spreading faster than holiday cheer, Top of Utah county health officials are encouraging the public to get a flu vaccination before Christmas.

People increasingly are getting flu shots at retailers rather than from their doctors or at public vaccine clinics.

No insurance? Your flu shot may be free

OGDEN -- Flu shots will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Unitarian Universalist Church of Ogden, 705 23rd St.

In addition, adults without insurance will be given free immunizations.

The Community Nursing Services clinic is provided through a grant from the Ralph Nye Foundation and the Utah Medical Association.

No appointment needed for flu shots

Ogden Clinic is now offering flu vaccines at its various clinics. Those wishing to get their immunization can visit any of the clinics between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. No appointment is necessary. The cost of the vaccine is $25. The vaccine generally takes about two weeks to take full effect. The virus is currently circulating and peaks around January.

County council to get flu shots at public meeting

SALT LAKE CITY — Members of the Salt Lake County Council will roll up their sleeves for flu vaccinations during an official meeting.

Free flu shots offered to Weber County children in need

OGDEN -- On Thursday evening, children in Weber County will have the opportunity to get a flu shot, free of charge.

Thanks to a generous donation given to Community Nursing Services by the Ogden-based Ralph Nye Charitable Foundation, children with CHIP, Medicaid or no insurance will be able to receive the yearly vaccine from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Marshall White Center, 222 28th St.

Two doses of the flu vaccine will be offered: the regular dose and the high dose flu vaccine which the latter is recommended for seniors age 65 and older for better protection against the flu. Flu shots are recommended for all ages.
