LOS ANGELES -- A Redondo Beach, Calif., man who invented the cold treatment gel Zicam was arrested on federal charges of illegally marketing another drug during a 2005 worldwide bird flu scare.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The death of a healthy Cary, N.C., high school senior last week of H1N1 flu is a reminder that the strain can still be lethal to young people, health officials said.

When the novel virus hit in 2009, college-age people seemed especially vulnerable, striking a group that is generally less inclined to get vaccinated or to seek treatment when sick.

FARMINGTON — A increase in the number of hospitalizations in Davis County due to influenza, and the number of flu cases being reported in Europe, is giving Davis County Health officials cause for concern heading into the peak of the flu season.

As the flu season begins, a few people are lining up to get vaccinated.

Although everyone is equally susceptible to influenza, the rate of vaccination is lower among Latinos.

"We noticed every year the vaccination rate is lagging behind the general population," David Monge said. "Either it's not as available or people don't know about it or they can't get it."

OGDEN -- It's fall, and for thousands of residents in the Top of Utah, that means it's time to prepare for the coming flu season.
