St. Michael’s to start new forum

BRIGHAM CITY — St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 589 S. 200 East, will begin a new Adult Forum series at 10:30 a.m. April 7 at the church.

The forum topic, led by Jean Hawrylo, will be the book “The God We Never Knew,” by Marcus Borg. This is one of Borg’s more controversial books and should provoke interesting discussion, a church news release states.

A nursery is available during the forum and the 11:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist service.

OGDEN -- City council candidates vying for two seats fielded questions on tourism, infrastructure, economic development and other topics during a voters' forum Wednesday night.

About 40 people attended the 90-minute event, sponsored by the council, at the Ogden Municipal Building.

Safsten excluded from Ogden City forum

OGDEN -- City council write-in candidate Rick Safsten is puzzled and disappointed that he's being excluded from an upcoming voters' forum.

Safsten, who is running for At-Large Seat C against incumbent Amy Wicks and challenger Stephen D. Thompson, said his exclusion from the forum sponsored by the city council is unfair.

Ogden council candidate quits at forum

OGDEN -- In a surprising move, a city council candidate abruptly dropped out of the race and threw his support behind an opponent during a voters forum Wednesday night.

Todd R. Wallis, who was running for the council's Municipal Ward 2 seat, told an audience gathered at Union Station he has decided to endorse the campaign of C. Jon White. "I'm bowing out. He (White) has my vote."
