GM records its highest profit ever: $7.6 billion

DETROIT -- General Motors earned its largest profit ever in 2011, two years after it nearly collapsed into financial ruin.

Like a Rock: Chevy celebrates 100th anniversary

DETROIT -- We saw the USA in them. We drove them to the levee. We even worked on our night moves in their back seats.

For a century, Chevrolets won America's love with their safety, convenience, style and speed -- even if sometimes they were clunky, or had problems with rust or their rear suspensions.

Chevy, which lays claim to being the top-selling auto brand of all time, celebrates its 100th birthday on Thursday.

GM expects to earn up to $2.1B as IPO approaches

DETROIT  -- General Motors Co. took a huge step forward Thursday in ending its ownership by the government, filing paperwork that gave the price range and other details of a planned initial public offering.
