PLEASANT VIEW -- A 51-year-old North Ogden man is accused of beating two golfers with a golf club after police say he became angry the men had hit golf balls in the direction of his family members.
Carlos Gonzalez is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was arrested Friday afternoon at Barn Golf Course, 305 W. Pleasant View Drive.
Police say Gonzalez was golfing with relatives when a group of three men golfing nearby hit a few balls in their direction.
"Gonzalez thought the other individuals were intentionally teeing off toward him and his family," said Pleasant View Police Lt. Joey Kuni. "The others denied that."
Gonzalez confronted the men and it quickly turned into a heated exchange.
Police say Gonzalez struck one of the men six or seven times.
During the beating, Gonzalez also reportedly swung and hit another man in the group two times after he tried to stop Gonzalez from beating his friend.
Both men had visible injuries from the attacks when officers arrived, Kuni said.
Kuni said it doesn't appear alcohol played a part in the altercation.
