CBS has issued a memo to Grammy Awards attendees against baring too much skin at the ceremony Sunday. The network requests that “buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered” for the televised award show. The memo sent out Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, also warned against “see-through clothing,” exposure of “the genital region” and said that “thong type costumes are problematic.” (AP Photo/Chris Pizzello, file)

In dramatic night at Grammys, a rising star is affirmed, a fallen one is grieved

LOS ANGELES -- The 54th Grammy Awards will be remembered as a story of two women with towering, timeless voices -- Adele and Whitney Houston -- one representing youthful triumph and boundless possibility, the other a reminder of fresh tragedy and a life unraveled.

Adele, the 23-year-old British singer-songwriter, took home six awards including album, record and song of the year, a trophy bounty that puts a gold-plating on a commercial and critical success story that has dramatically defied the grim gravities of today's economically challenged recording industry.

Whitney Houston showed erratic behavior days before death

Days before her death in a Los Angeles hotel, Whitney Houston behaved erratically during an appearance at a rehearsal for a Grammy awards party.

Houston died Saturday afternoon, a representative for the singer told the Associated Press. No cause of death has been announced and law enforcement sources said the singer was found in a hotel room at the Beverly Hills Hilton, where emergency medical personnel were called on Saturday.

Lose Yourself: Eminem only wins 2 of 10 Grammys

LOS ANGELES -- The Grammys love Eminem. Over his decade plus career, they've showered him with 13 Grammy Awards -- and gave him two during this year's ceremonies.

But their love for Eminem seems to only extend to the rap categories. Despite being regarded as one of music's geniuses, he has never won a Grammy outside of the genre -- a streak that continued on Sunday.

Eminem, who went into the Grammys as the leading nominee with 10 nominations, including in the prestigious album, record and song of the year categories, walked away with just two: best solo rap performance and best rap album for "Recovery," which was last year's best-selling album and marked a triumphant comeback for an iconic figure who stumbled in recent years due to a former drug addiction.

He lost album of the year to Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs," and his Rihanna-assisted "Love The Way You Lie" lost to Lady Antebellum in the record and song of the year categories.

It marked the third loss in his career for Eminem in the album of the year category, as well as his Eminem's third loss in the record of the year and second with song of the year.

Grammy predictions 2011: Who will win, who should win, who got shafted

The Grammy Awards will hold their 53rd annual shindig at 7 p.m. to-day on KUTV Channel 2.

To get primed for the telecast, we play the perilous game of predicting how the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences will honor "artistic excellence," and point out the even more excellent music it overlooked (remember, only recordings released from Sept. 1, 2009, to Sept.
