The Box Elder Community Pantry in Brigham City and Your Community Connection of Ogden were among several Utah nonprofit organizations serving youth, seniors, the disabled and the homeless to be among the recipients of $193,370 in grants.

RAMP committee recommends funding 18 projects

OGDEN -- The Weber County RAMP Recreation and Parks Committee voted Thursday to recommend funding for 18 projects.

FARMINGTON — Farmington Police Department will convert to a new digital format in two patrol cars for producing footage for evidence, thanks to a $7,500 grant from the Utah Commission on Criminal Justice.

The 100 Percent For Kids Credit Union Education Foundation recently awarded a $2,500 grant to Bountiful Junior High School to aid in the purchase of musical instruments.

OGDEN -- A multimillion-dollar grant will allow Weber County to provide more access to treatment for people with addictions.

Ogden to use $1.5M to hire 7 officers

OGDEN -- The Ogden Police Department has been awarded a $1.5 million federal grant over three years to hire seven new officers.

The grant from the U.S. Department of Justice will pay wages and benefits for the police officers, who may be hired starting Jan. 1, said Tracy Probert, the city's assistant finance manager.

Morgan transportation money to help widen roads

MORGAN -- A new draft of the Morgan County general plan, the first update in more than a decade, addresses a transportation plan not only for motorists, but also for cyclists. Local bike enthusiasts recently attended a Morgan County Council meeting to ask county officials what is being done to provide better infrastructure.

Years ago the county applied for a $2 million grant through the state transportation improvement plan to be used for maintenance and repair of Old Highway Road and the north portion of Morgan Valley Drive.

Grant to benefit many agencies in Davis County

FARMINGTON -- Ten Davis agencies will receive grant money from Davis County as part of the annual pass-through social services block grant funds it administers.

Davis County to apply for grant to get police dog

FARMINGTON -- In a rare 2-to-1 vote, the Davis County Commission reluctantly decided on Tuesday to apply for a $7,500 federal grant to give the Davis County Sheriff's Office its fifth working canine unit.

If approved, the grant, which is to be issued through the state, will pay for a drug-sniffing dog and the training needed for a deputy to handle the animal.

8 Weber County home buyers to get $5,000 in aid

OGDEN -- The Weber County Housing Authority is looking for eight first-time home buyers who can use $5,000 to assist in their purchase.

River grant still a go, but Ogden mayor says he's troubled by fundraising exaggeration

OGDEN -- An admitted exaggeration by a city consultant regarding America First Credit Union's participation in a fundraising campaign for the Ogden River Restoration Project shouldn't impact a $1 million state grant awarded to the municipality, a member of the Utah Water Quality Board said Friday.
