MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK, Wash. — Mount Rainier National Park remained closed Tuesday following the discovery of the body of the suspected gunman in the fatal shooting of a park ranger that has devastated the close-knit group of park workers.

Family of quarry shooter expresses condolences

CUPERTINO, Calif. — The family of the man who shot and killed three colleagues at a Silicon Valley cement plant and wounded six others said Saturday they are shocked and have no explanation for why the shooting happened.

Nevada IHOP gunman dead after killing 3, wounding 6

 

CARSON CITY, Nev. — A gunman wielding an AK-47 opened fire on a table of uniformed National Guard members at an IHOP restaurant on Tuesday in an outburst of violence that killed four people, wounded eight others and put Nevada’s capital city on high alert as the shooter unloaded his assault rifle in a bustling business district.

The shooter’s motive was unclear, but family members said he had mental issues. He had never been in the military and had no known affiliation with anyone inside the restaurant.

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech was locked down for several hours Thursday after three children attending a summer camp said they saw a man holding what looked like a gun on the campus where a 2007 massacre left 33 people dead.

Gunman reported near Va. Tech dining hall

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech was locked down Thursday when three children attending a summer camp said they saw a man holding what looked like a gun, an unsettling report on the campus where a 2007 massacre left 33 people dead.

The university issued an alert on its website at 9:37 a.m. Thursday telling students and employees to stay inside and lock their doors.
