SALT LAKE CITY -- The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence has recognized Utah as one of four states with crazy gun laws because its concealed weapons law allows for guns on college campuses.
Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke says in this week's 2010 state rankings that Utah, Arizona and Alaska are the only three states with no common sense gun laws.
Helmke says the rankings are based on a state's ability to prevent gun violence through background checks and tighter requirements for the purchase of guns.
Helmke says Utah laws are considered crazy because people with a concealed weapons permit can carry a loaded gun on college campuses.
Kansas, Virginia and Florida were also recognized for crazy laws.
The campaign cited California for its sensible gun laws.
