Facebook seminar planned for seniors in Ogden

OGDEN — Seniors have a chance to catch up with the social networking craze Facebook next week at a Facebook for Seniors seminar, being taught from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Harrison Regent independent living retirement community on 4481 Harrison Blvd.

Allison Mathis, marketing director for At Home Nursing and Personal Care, will teach the seminar.

At Home Personal Care runs the gamut of health and wellness care for seniors from Weber to Utah counties, Mathis said, so the idea of doing a Facebook seminar seemed to fit within the services provided.

Ogden retirement center plans fundraisers for wartime veterans

OGDEN — Harrison Regent Retirement Center is holding two fundraising events to help raise money for wartime veterans.

Cody Callaway, area sales leader for the retirement center, said the events will benefit Outward Bound for Veterans, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that helps veterans readjust to life at home through powerful wilderness courses that draw on teamwork and challenge through use of the natural world.

“It’s a national program and is held in over 20 states across the U.S.,” Callaway said. “It’s a very good program and really helps our veterans re-acclimate themselves when they return home.”
