Hooper plans fun 'haunt' for Saturday

HOOPER -- The annual Hooper Halloween Haunt will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hooper Park, 5600 S. 6100 West.

Students from Country View Elementary and Freedom Elementary schools in Hooper and Quest Academy in West Haven, and Rocky Mountain Junior High School's art class in West Haven, are making more than 3,000 luminaries, which will be lighted and on display the night of the walk.

Haunted house in Riverdale? City unsure

RIVERDALE --The only thing scarier than a haunted house is an upscale, vacant commercial building, according to a recent Riverdale City Redevelopment Agency decision.

Petitioners representing The Castle of Chaos are asking the RDA to approve a temporary, seasonal lease allowing a haunted house in the 139,835 square-foot building at 1134 W. Riverdale Road left vacant by Macy's in 2008. Macy's made lease payments until June 1 on the building currently owned by Developers Diversified Realty, based in Ohio.
