Some kids overdue for 2nd swine flu vaccination

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Salt Lake Valley Health Department says more than 16,000 children are overdue for the second of two vaccine doses needed to ward off the swine flu.

The health department is starting to call parents to remind them that their children need a second dose.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, about 80 percent of children nationally who got their first H1N1 shot never came back to get their second one.

Children under age 10 need two doses of the vaccine to combat the virus. The doses should be at least a month apart.
