SALT LAKE CITY — University of Utah Health Care System has been ranked among the country's top health providers.

The rankings by U.S. News & World Report put the university system in the top 3 percent of hospitals nationwide.

It's the 17th time the University of Utah Health Care System has ranked high in the magazine's annual survey.

It evaluated 4,852 hospitals, but only 152 made the cut.

University of Utah Health Care is the only academic health care system in the Intermountain West.

The system consists of University of Utah Hospital, the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, an orthopedic center, a psychiatric institute, the Moran Eye Center and community health clinics. They see more than 1 million patient visits a year.
