Idaho man arrested Sunday after chase

BRIGHAM CITY -- Around 9 p.m. Sunday, a Utah Highway Patrol trooper saw a Mitsubishi driving erratically, heading south near the Interstates 15 and 84 merge. When the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver, identified as Joseph Palmer, 38, of Idaho, sped up to the speed limit and kept going.

Officers from UHP, Tremonton and Box Elder County pursued the vehicle, with speeds reaching 60-75 mph in a 55 mph zone, according to UHP.

Brigham City officers set up spike strips and the vehicle's tires were spiked. However, Palmer continued into Brigham City, where he hit a light pole. He left the car and tried to run, but was hit with a stun gun and arrested.

Officers discovered alcohol in the vehicle. Palmer also had a $5,000 warrant.
