HAFB bribery, fraud suspects plead guilty

SALT LAKE CITY — A Florida couple and a former Hill Air Force Base employee have all pleaded guilty in a bribery and fraud scheme involving federal procurement contracts handed out by the Air Force.

WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon on Friday grounded its fleet of F-35 fighter jets after discovering a cracked engine blade in one plane.

Developer wants $2.8M to make Hill Air Force Base 'BRAC-proof'

SALT LAKE CITY — A key developer at Hill Air Force Base is requesting $2.8 million in state funding to continue an effort to make the local base what he termed “BRAC-proof.”

Jeffrey Woodberry, of Sunset Ridge Development Partners LLC of Salt Lake City, appeared before a legislative economic development appropriations committee Thursday to request funding for the Military Installation Development Authority and for Falcon Hill.

Bishop to Utah lawmakers: Act now to protect Hill's future

SALT LAKE CITY — Congressman Rob Bishop, R-Utah, during appearances Monday morning in the House and Senate, called on state lawmakers to actively look at options to protect the future of Hill Air Force Base.

Bishop warned that the possibility of sequestration could lead to a loss of as many as one-third of the federal military programs and hit the work line for F-16s at Hill.

He also suggested that another round of Base Realignment and Closure Commission could be in the future.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Lockheed Martin has been awarded a contract to sustain the ground control segment for the GPS satellite constellation.

The U.S. Air Force Space Command Space and Missile Center awarded Lockheed Martin a $100 million contract to support the GPS ground control segment. The contract’s period of performance is from January 2013 through June 2019.

Hill Air Force Base will provide support work as part of the contract.
