Black History Month 'Ethnic Taster' today

Today, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., a food tasting event, "Ethnic Taster," will be held in the Hill Air Force Base Chapel Annex in conjunction with Black History Month and events are set through Feb. 23. Food set up is at 10:30 a.m.

The key event planned in February is a luncheon, Feb. 16, with speaker, Maj. Gen. Ronnie Hawkins, Defense Information Systems Agency vice director.

The February 2010 events theme is "The History of Black Economic Empowerment."

Tuesday, Feb. 9, 10 a.m.- 11 a.m., the Child Development Center will hold a children's reading activity and will hold readings every Tuesday through February.

Feb. 12, a "Gospel Extravaganza" will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the 2nd Baptist Church in Ogden. For information, call Henry McAllister at (801) 775-4257.

Feb. 16, 11 a.m., the luncheon will be held at Club Hill with Hawkins as speaker. For tickets, contact Capt. Donna Miller at (801) 777-8000 or Staff Sgt. Jarkovey Jordan at (801) 777-2154. The entree choices are grilled chicken breast and vegetarian lasagna. Tickets cost $11 for members, $13 for non-Club members.

Feb. 16, 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m., a lunch and learn seminar, "Credit Counseling," will be held in the large conference room in the Airman and Family Readiness Center. For more information, contact Tammara Kirkman at (801) 777-6650.
