Western Extreme

Team Hill will be featured in a television show on the Outdoor Channel sometime after the TV crew's visit here Feb. 22-26. Although the show, Western Extreme by Bowtech, is about big game hunting, its host, Jim Burnworth, wants to pay tribute to his comrades of a different camouflage -- the Airmen of Hill Air Force Base.

In his weekly TV series, Burnworth travels throughout Alaska, Canada, Mexico, North America and South Africa to hunt big game, both with a bow and a rifle, and his film crew captures his hunting adventures using 1,080p high-definition cameras.

All throughout the last week of February, Burnworth and his film crew will capture Hill's Airmen in its high-definition cameras as they highlight members from the 75th Security Forces Squadron, the 775th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Flight, the 775th CES fire department, as well as the crew chiefs, weapons loaders and avionics technicians along the flight line.

"The film crew will interview the Airmen about what they do day-to-day and how they contribute to the overseas contingency operation," said Tech. Sgt. Keith Brumfield, of the Inspector General's office. Brumfield is working with the 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs staff to support this weeklong event.

For the first part of the week, the film crew will focus on the specialists who use state-of-the-art weaponry to hunt down terrorists.

However, at the end of the week the camera lenses will widen to encompass the general population at Hill AFB who enjoys recreational hunting.

On Feb. 25, Burnworth will host a free televised hunting symposium at the Club Hill ballroom from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., where audience members will be able to ask the professional sportsman questions and he will also provide general information about hunting and equipment. There are plans for other hunting sponsors and vendors to be on hand at the symposium and some will be giving away free items. The Western Extreme crew will give away big prizes during the symposium, such as Savage rifles, Nikon optics, Bowtech bows, arrows and hunting apparel.

This event is open to anyone with a Department of Defense issued identification card that allows access to the base.

For more information about this event, contact Brumfield at (801) 586-1884 or via e-mail at keith.brumfield@hill.af.mil.
