Unlicensed child care reminder issued

Operating a Family Childcare home is a privilege granted by the support group commander.

All persons providing child care in their home for more than 10 hours per week must be licensed. Unlicensed child care is a violation of base regulations and may result in the loss of base housing privileges.

If you suspect someone of providing unlicensed child care please call (801) 777-0695, a child's well-being may depend on your call.

Grass Roots concert tickets options after power failure

Due to a power failure which occurred just prior to the beginning of the Grass Roots concert at Layton's Ed Kennley Ampitheater, those who purchased tickets for the concert will be given the opportunity to trade their tickets for any concert for the remaining season at the Davis Arts Council Ticket Office.

Upcoming 4-H Summer Camps

The Military 4-H Club has several upcoming summer camps that will offer fun for all ages. The upcoming camps for July:

•4-H Idol Talent Contest: July 8; noon - 8:30 p.m.

Located at the Layton City Amphitheater. Cost: $20 for the whole day.

Contestants of all kinds -- music, dance, theater, etc. -- are encouraged to attend during the day to participate in performing workshops and practice sessions. The competition will start at 6:30 p.m., and prizes will be awarded. Winners will move on to the state competition. Contestants will need to provide props.

Rescheduled 2nd CTCS tourney

The 2nd Combat Camera Squadron Slow Pitch Softball tourney has been rescheduled for the weekend of July 16-17.

The cost will be $100 per team and the format will be double elimination with trophies going to first and second place. Play will be under USSSA rules.

Lucas Off-Road Racing Series

Discount tickets are available for the Lucas Off-Road Racing Series, Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27 at Miller Motor Sports Park in Tooele. Tickets $17 (normally $30 at the gate).

This is short course racing. Steeped in the Midwest tradition of short course off-road racing infused with a West coast influence bringing intense four-wheel door-to-door action to challenging, fan friendly tracks.

4-H members are invited to try their hand at learning new sewing techniques and put together a project for the fair. Beginning and intermediate projects will be available, and lunch will be provided.

•4-H Project Runway Fashion Revue: June 23; 6 - 8 p.m.

Hogle Zoo offers military events

The Hogle Zoo, located in Salt Lake City, will be hosting a Salute Our Military event on July 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature a flag-raising ceremony, marching band, military equipment displays, a rock climbing wall, animal presentations, and more.

Dads hit the green for free

Grab Dad and the irons and head out to Hubbard Memorial Golf Course on June 20 for a Father's Day special.

The golf course will be offering dads the chance to golf nine holes for free if they are playing with a spouse or dependant paying for nine holes.

Swim, bike and run in triathlon

On June 19 the Warrior Fitness Center encourages all athletes to push themselves to new limits with their triathlon.

The triathlon will include two categories: sprint and Olympic. Competitors in the sprint category will take part in a 400-meter swim, 20K bike ride and a 5K run. The Olympic category will include an 800-meter swim, 40K bike ride and 10K run.

The cost to register is $10 per person, which includes a free T-shirt if contestants register by June 11. For more information, please call the Warrior Fitness Center at 777-2762.

Cool off on the Flowrider

The Youth Center will be hosting a Flowrider and Bowling event at the Salomon Center in Ogden on June 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Flowrider attraction features wakeboarding, surfing and boogie boarding on an indoor river. Children ages 9 - 18 are encouraged to attend, and the cost is $45 per person. Attendees will need to bring their own lunch or extra money to buy lunch at the center.
