Home fires kill more than 2,900 people in the United States every year and there are more than 200,000 people seen in emergency rooms for burn injuries. Cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries. Fire departments around the U.S. recently finished a successful fire prevention week campaign at the beginning of October. The theme this year was "Stay fire smart! Don't get burned." Team Hill fire officials would like to continue this success throughout the holiday season.

One lane closure on 'E' Avenue

Setting steel structure for the Base Chapel requires the closure of a lane on "E" Avenue north of Balmer Street until Jan. 29. This will allow crane access and maneuverability. For information contact Richard Nehring at (801) 775-3369.

Due to recent weather conditions and predicted storminess this weekend, the Utah Department of Transportation has authorized a special lane closure today, Nov. 19. This closure will ensure that work will be completed so seven lanes of traffic are open by Thanksgiving.

Northbound Riverdale Road will be restricted to one lane today from the Weber River Viaduct to Lincoln Avenue so crews can prepare the critical transition between the new concrete pavement and the existing roadway. The lane closure is expected to be in effect from 6 a.m.

In order to install a new transformer at West Area Fire Station No. 2, power will be cut for approximately 12 hours on Nov. 13, beginning at 8 a.m.

This will affect the following facilities:

Buildings 1120, 1121, 1122, 1123, 1124, 1126, 1128 and 1151.
