Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge Adverse Actions:
Nonjudicial punishment is a disciplinary tool available to commanders under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, UCMJ. In response to a suspected violation of the UCMJ, a commander can offer processing via nonjudicial punishment instead of trial by court-martial. Choosing nonjudicial punishment is not an admission of guilt by the member, and the commander must still consider the evidence in determining if the member committed the offense. If the commander finds the member guilty he or she then imposes appropriate punishment.
During the period of Oct. 15 to Nov. 15, several Hill Airmen received nonjudicial punishments under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice:
An Airman basic assigned to the 649th Munitions Squadron failed to go to his appointed place of duty.
Punishment: The member received forfeitures of $699 pay per month for two months.
An Airman assigned to the 388th Maintenance Operations Squadron failed to go to his appointed place of duty.
Punishment: The member received forfeitures of $169, 30 days restriction to base and a suspended reduction in rank to Airman basic.
An Airman 1st class assigned to the 388th Equipment Operations Squadron failed to go to his appointed place of duty.
Punishment: The member received a reduction to the grade of Airman, suspended forfeitures of $784 pay and suspended 15 days extra duty.
A senior Airman assigned to the 388th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron endangered the physical health and welfare of a child.
Punishment: The member received a reduction to the grade of Airman 1st class, a reprimand, 15 days extra duty and suspended 30 days extra duty.
A staff sergeant assigned to the 75th Operations Support Squadron failed to obey a lawful order.
Punishment: The member received a reduction to the grade of senior Airman.
