Work at South Gate occasionally

One lane of the South Gate's outbound traffic lanes will be closed on a few weekends through June 20, to allow Hill Air Force Base environmental engineers to install groundwater monitoring devices and collect water samples.

The lane to be closed will be the outbound, left-most turn lane.

The closure is necessary to allow a drill rig and a crew to work in the street.

Work will also be done in the grassy area on the northeast corner of Southgate Avenue and Highway 193, but should not affect the traffic lanes.

The work should take up to seven weekends to complete, but only one lane of traffic will be closed over four weekends (not consecutively) and only during daylight hours.

For more information about the drilling, call Lance Kovel at (801) 775-5242.
