Dental products you might like to try are in stock at the Commissary

There are so many new dental products available today, how do you choose? Below are three product suggestions that might benefit your family's dental health.

Toothpaste with triclosan: This is marketed under the name "Colgate Total." Triclosan is an antibacterial agent that provides a 12-hour protection on teeth which keeps plaque from forming and adhering to the teeth, as well as inhibiting calculus from forming and building up. This toothpaste also contains sodium fluoride, which is an effective ingredient in decreasing the rate of cavity formation and decreasing gum inflammation.

Toothpaste with stannous fluoride and sodium hexametaphosphate: This is the formula that is advertized as "Crest Pro Health." These ingredients also decrease bacterial activity plus help control gum inflammation and cavity formation. The stannous fluoride present in Crest Pro Health aids in the relief of sensitive teeth as well as cavity prevention and gingivitis.

Both of these products have been clinically shown to provide benefits when they are used as directed. See which one you and your family like using, and try it until your next dental checkup. You may be pleasantly surprised at the results!

Pre-brush tinting rinse: Available as "Listerine Agent Cool Blue." This product is an alcohol- free mouth rinse that will tint the plaque on the teeth blue and can be used either before or after brushing. When used before brushing, areas with plaque can be identified to direct brushing specifically at areas of plaque accumulation. It can be used after brushing to identify areas that have not been completely eliminated of plaque and may need more attention. This mouth rinse can reinforce positive behaviors and help develop proper oral care habits.
