The 2010 Air Force Assistance Fund campaign, which began March 8, ended April 30 and successfully raised $65,092.36.
The campaign kicked off at Hill Air Force Base with a basketball tournament between the 75th Force Support Squadron and the 75th Security Forces Squadron and was able to raise money for Airmen and military families in need.
"I appreciated not only the incredible generosity we saw through everyone's donations, but the commitment of time and effort made by the key workers in each unit," said 2nd Lt. Peter Densmore, 75th FSS Chief of Career Development.
The AFAF provides aid to all Airmen, including active duty, retirees, reservists and members of the guard, as well as their dependents and surviving spouses, for emergencies, educational needs, or even a stay in a particular retirement home.
"The AFAF campaign is one of the few, if not in many ways the exclusive means by which these charities find the money to help our Airmen in need," said Densmore.
The assistance is provided through the organizations that make up the AFAF which include: The Air Force Village Foundation, the Air Force Aid Society, the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation, and the Air Force Enlisted Village.
"Everyone should know that whether they donated their time or their money, the benefits we and the Airmen around us continue to see from the organizations that make up the Air Force Assistance Fund are only because you decided to contribute," said Densmore.
The AFAF campaign is conducted once a year here, but you can find more information on each organization online at http://www.afassistancefund.org.
