The Aluminum Overcast and others of its type, fly around the country giving others a chance to take a ground tour or a flight.
The Experimental Aircraft Association has refurbished the famous Norden bombsight on the aircraft along with many of the features the original B-17s were famous for and includes some of the later modifications to the model. The Norden bombsight was revolutionary in its day, allowing for better targeting. The bomber would actually have control of the aircraft as the pilot would put the B-17 into autopilot before the bombs were released. Bombers could make last minute adjustments to align the aircraft with its target.
