Grand opening set for popcorn shop in Ogden

OGDEN -- A grand opening for a new gourmet popcorn shop will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Sweet Pop'n Cafe, a family-owned and -operated business, allows customers to make their own unique flavor of kettle corn by choosing from a wide variety of popcorn, flavors and coatings. It is at 155 25th St. in Ogden. The grand opening will conclude at 7 p.m.

OGDEN — The new owner of the Helena Hotel and Keller Building is hopeful a Tuesday court hearing will finally force the structures’ controversial former owner to vacate the premises.

Jared E. Allen said he purchased the buildings at 205 and 207 Historic 25th St. at a foreclosure auction in August. Ever since then, he has attempted to evict Bruce Edwards, the former owner.

Winterfest lures 12,000 attendees

OGDEN -- The city's second annual Winterfest proved to be the hottest ticket in town over the weekend, drawing thousands of spectators and flooding downtown restaurants with hordes of hungry customers.

Historic 25th can reach greater heights

OGDEN -- After months of lengthy study, the city council unanimously agreed Tuesday night to stretch height limits from 45 feet to 55 feet for new buildings on Historic 25th Street.

The height ordinance amendment requested by the Historic 25th Street Business Association also includes a provision for rooftop additions.

Ogden's Berthana may gain night club

OGDEN -- The owners of the historic Berthana Building will fund about $2 million in renovations to add a trendy night club if the Weber County Commission endorses a proposal aimed at improving the Ogden Eccles Conference Center.

The county commissioners are eyeing the Berthana Building at 329 24th St. as a key component in providing more exhibit and meeting space for the adjoining conference center.

RIVERDALE -- It may have been 10 degrees outside, but that didn't stop the heartiest of shoppers from ushering in Black Friday in the usual fashion -- waiting in line all night for big discounts.
